EvEx Associate Policy Fellowship 2027: UK Research Organisations Can Apply for Up to £62,500 to Host Policy Fellowships

Date:

Applications are open for the EvEx Associate Policy Fellowship 2027, which offers UK research organisations up to £62,500 to host policy fellowships for public and civil servants. The programme is designed to strengthen links between researchers and the public sector, with hosting awards expected across the UK and fellowships due to run from January to May 2027.

Key facts

  • Applications opened on 1 September 2026.
  • The deadline is midday on 8 October 2026.
  • Successful host organisations can apply for a maximum budget of £62,500.
  • EvEx expects to offer about 10 hosting awards across the UK in the 2026–2027 cycle.
  • Fellowships will run between January and May 2027.

What does this mean for students, researchers and universities?

The opportunity is aimed at UK research organisations, including universities, colleges, research centres, research institutes and public sector research establishments. For those institutions, the scheme creates a funded route to host public and civil servants, build policy networks and connect academic expertise with real-world policy challenges.

Who can apply?

The hosting awards are open to research organisations in the United Kingdom that are eligible for UK Research and Innovation funding. EvEx says applicants do not need prior experience running policy fellowships, and groups of research organisations can apply together.

How will the fellowships work?

Successful organisations will design their own programme and host Policy Fellows between January and May 2027. EvEx says fellows should spend at least five days engaging with researchers during that period, and programmes can include meetings, seminars, workshops and network-building activities.

What support will host organisations receive?

Alongside funding, host organisations will join a Coaching and Learning Programme. EvEx says this includes guidance on recruiting and matching fellows, designing activities, training, workshops, shared resources and support from a Coaching and Learning Consultant.

What are the key dates?

EvEx has set a webinar for 9 September 2026 at 1:30 p.m., with applications closing at midday on 8 October 2026. Applicants are expected to be notified by 30 October 2026, while the programme timeline runs through to final reporting on 30 June 2027.

Why the programme matters

EvEx says the hosting awards are intended to expand the number, capacity and diversity of policy fellowship opportunities beyond the existing consortium. The programme is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and delivered by the Centre for Science and Policy at the University of Cambridge with partners across the United Kingdom.
